The Climate-Adapt4EOSC 4th General Assembly and Thematic Seminar took place from 24 to 26 June 2026 at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester, UK. Hosted by The University of Manchester and co-hosted by Technovative Solutions Ltd (TVS), the three-day meeting brought together project partners, researchers, data practitioners, policymakers and digital research infrastructure experts from across Europe and the United Kingdom.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the consortium to review progress across the Climate-Adapt4EOSC project, discuss upcoming activities, and strengthen collaboration on the development of FAIR, interoperable, and reusable climate adaptation data and services within the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) ecosystem.
About the Meeting
The 4th General Assembly served as an important milestone for the Climate-Adapt4EOSC consortium, bringing partners together to assess ongoing developments across the project's work packages and use cases, and to align on priorities for the next phase of implementation.

Across the three days, participants took part in project sessions, technical demonstrations, interactive workshops and knowledge-sharing activities. The programme also provided opportunities to explore synergies with related initiatives working towards FAIR data, semantic interoperability and climate adaptation.
The General Assembly concluded with a thematic seminar titled "Bridging the Gap: Implementing a FAIR Data Exchange Framework for Climate and Environmental Resilience". The hybrid seminar opened the discussion to a wider audience of researchers, data practitioners, policymakers and infrastructure specialists interested in the role of FAIR data in climate and environmental resilience.
What Was Discussed
The first day focused on reviewing project progress and aligning the consortium around upcoming activities. Partners discussed developments across the project's three Use Cases, which address applications related to climate risk assessment, adaptation planning and climate resilience.
Sessions also examined legal and organisational interoperability, as well as the tools and methodologies being developed to facilitate cross-domain and cross-border data sharing.
A dedicated FAIRification workshop, based on the Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM), provided a practical setting for partners to explore how climate adaptation datasets can become more FAIR, interoperable, reusable and machine-actionable.
Other sessions covered developments related to the 3SES platform, Big Data Analytics Framework, EOSC onboarding activities and project communication and dissemination. Participants also explored AI-assisted translation approaches supported through CDIF and Croissant, highlighting the potential of emerging technologies to improve multilingual access to climate-related knowledge.
The second day placed greater emphasis on practical solutions and interoperability. Partners presented developments including the Climate Adaptation Toolkit, FAIRification Framework, Cross-Domain Interoperability Framework (CDIF) and the project's roadmap towards wider adoption and sustainability.
Technical demonstrations of the project's ETL pipeline, adaptation tools and climate ontologies illustrated how semantic technologies can support the discoverability, interoperability and reuse of climate data across different domains.
A key part of the programme was a joint session with the FAIR2Adapt project. Experts from both Horizon Europe projects exchanged experiences, discussed shared challenges and explored opportunities for future collaboration around FAIR data implementation, semantic interoperability and climate adaptation services.
Thematic Seminar on FAIR Data and Climate Resilience
The final day featured the project's thematic seminar, bringing together experts from the research, policy and digital infrastructure communities.
The seminar explored how FAIR data principles can be translated into practical data exchange solutions for climate and environmental research. Discussions covered FAIRification of climate and environmental data, semantic interoperability, machine-actionable metadata, data governance, legal interoperability, FAIR Digital Objects and the role of digital research infrastructures in supporting climate adaptation.
The programme featured contributions from experts including Sarah Sharples and Stian Soiland-Reyes from The University of Manchester, Markus Kraft from the University of Cambridge, Richard Taylor from the Stockholm Environment Institute, Alexandra Kokkinaki and Gwenaelle Moncoiffe from the National Oceanography Centre, and Gordon Blair from the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, Kollol Chakraborty and Mir Nafis Sharear Shopnil from Technovative Solutions Ltd (TVS), alongside experts from NCSR Demokritos and the GO FAIR Foundation.
The discussions also highlighted how interoperable and FAIR data ecosystems can support more resilient cities and communities while strengthening cooperation between European and UK research and innovation stakeholders.
TVS's Contribution


As a key technical partner in Climate-Adapt4EOSC, Technovative Solutions Ltd (TVS) contributed to discussions on the project's technical development and the integration of climate adaptation services within the wider EOSC ecosystem.
At the Manchester General Assembly, discussions covered the progress of the ETL pipeline, Climate Adaptation Toolkit, Big Data Analytics Framework and EOSC onboarding activities. These developments are supporting the project's transition towards more integrated, FAIR and interoperable climate adaptation services across its three use cases.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to align on the next steps for data integration, FAIRification, semantic interoperability and EOSC integration as the project moves further into its implementation and service development phase. For TVS, the General Assembly was an important opportunity to coordinate these technical activities with consortium partners and contribute to the project's next stage of development.
